The Art Of the Practice | Raleigh North Carolina Photographer
I have declared 2016 to be the year of the practice and this photoshoot was no exception. My two goals on this photoshoot was 1) work with a large light source in relation to my subject 2) maximize the same location by getting unique images.
On the day of the photoshoot I was only able to accomplish one of my two goals. The first goal of utilizing a large light source was abandon because it was unclear if an assistant was going to be available. The second goal was successful and here's why.
I have photographed at the North Carolina State Capital multiple times and ever time it's my goal to walk away with unique images. When I approach a photo session my initial concern is first the light, then my subject and lastly the location. Given that I approach my session in this fashion, I tend to walk away with unique images from the same location photographed multiple times. It's very easy to recreate an image at the same location, but it's very challenging to force yourself to view the same location differently, which was my goal.
I want thank Diana Cameron McQueen and Shelby Boyd for being my two amazing models. You both were extremely patiently with me, so thank you very much. I also want to thank Terri Deney for coming all the way from Greensboro, North Carolina to assist me on this shoot. In addition, I would also like to thank Chris Lewis who happen to saw our Periscope live broadcast during the shoot, decided to come down but actually ended up also assisting. Lastly, I want to thank Wayne Myers who did the behind the scenes video of this photo shoot, which will be released in the very near future.
