My family and I decided to have a vacation in Miami, FL specifically Sunny Isles Beach for 4 nights at Acqualina Resort & Spa.  Generally, whenever possible I try to incorporate photography into my travels because I more enjoy that aspect of the vacation than the actual vacation itself.

Given photography was one of my main goals on this trip I reached out to a local model in Miami, Fl to setup a photo shoot.  We planned out every single detail prior to my arrival, from the theme to the wardrobe, to hair & makeup and location.  Since all these details were out of the way and the model was fully onboard, I was very excited prior to my arrival.

With respect to my gear, I brought my Elinchrom Rotalux 99cm Deep Octagonal Softbox, One Godox AD200, my Canon 5D Mark III and my 3 lenses (85mm 1.2, 70-200mm 2.8 & 24-70mm 2.8).

Upon my arrival, I touched base with the model to make her aware that I was in town and confirm our shoot date, which was the following day Sunday, August 20th, 2017, at which time she responded with an inquiry asking if we can push the shoot to Monday, August 21st, 2017 and I confirmed that would be fine at 5 PM.  On the day of the photo shoot, 5 mins after 5 PM I decided to send her a message asking her if she was en route and to my surprise, she wasn't, but more importantly she effectively closed the possibility of rescheduling the shoot.  That said, I was not happy because I was all fueled up and ready to create some portraits but unfortunately I knew that wasn't going to be a reality.

My wife sensing how this cancellation has affected me gracefully volunteered to be my muse.  She was not prepared for this photo shoot.  In addition, my daughter also volunteered which was absolutely shocking because she never willingly allows me to photograph her.   Although they volunteered I knew they had very little patience when it comes to me photographing them, so I planned out all my images as best I could before they got in front of my camera.  My plan was to use a mixture of natural and artificial light and to allow them to be themselves as much as possible aka less posing.  I want to give a big thank you to my wife and my daughter for helping me scratch my creative desire to produce.

In addition to the portraits, I captured of my wife and daughter I also took some landscape images to help fill out the story of our time in Miami.
